The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, has appealed to youth and other aggrieved persons protesting the scarcity of new naira notes to remain calm and refrain from the destruction of public property especially banks and government facilities in the state.
A statement by the Chairman, Comrade Festus Alenkhe and Secretary, Comrade Andy Egbon, said when things normalize, Nigerians will still revert to the use of the various critical facilities now destroyed.
The statement named some facilities now under attack to include banks, Automated Teller Machine (ATM), Point of Sales (POS) outlets, street lights and other government properties in the state.
The statement also called for calm and advised that, the people to patiently preserve and exercise their franchise by voting for the candidate of their choice during the general elections slated for February 25th and March 11th.
