The Edo State Government has charged operatives of the Edo State Security Vigilante Network to ensure the protection of lives and property, eschew violence and discharge their duties within the ambit of the laws.
The Deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu gave the charge at the graduation of Batch A trainees of the network, comprising 574 operatives drawn from the six local government areas of Edo North.
They completed a two-week intensive training session, held at the Police Training School, Ogida, Benin City.
In his remarks, the chief judge of Edo State, Justice Joe Acha represented by the deputy chief registrar of Edo State judiciary, Aibeku Ihenyen Esquire asked the security operatives to complement existing security architecture in the state.
On his part, the Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, Mohammed Dankwara represented by the deputy commissioner of Police Operations, Miller Dantawaye, praised that the synergy between the police and the Edo state security network.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to some deserving trainees.
