The Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, has said the newly graduated police constables will be deployed to complement existing officers in the 2023 general elections.
IGP Baba revealed this at the passing out parade ceremony of the 2021 recruits-general-intake of Edo and Delta States origin, held at the Police Training School, Ogida, Benin City.
Represented by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 5, Lawan Jemita, the IGP commended the government’s policy of recruiting 10,000 police constables annually over three years.
He noted that this signals the commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari to bequeathing to Nigeria a reformed and well-positioned Police Force with renewed capacity and commitment to attain its internal security mandate.
