The European Union has described Edo State as a model worth emulating in tackling human trafficking.

The Head of the European Union delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS Ambassador Samuela Isopi said this when she was led on a tour of facilities set up by the state government to tackle Human trafficking and Gender Based Violence by the First Lady of Edo State, Her Excellency Betsy Obaseki.

Samuela Isopi said Edo State has shifted from a human trafficking hub to a referral state in tackling human trafficking, promising other collaborations in tackling gender based violence.

She pledged her commitment to continue to partner with the state and the Governors Wives Forum in tackling in gender based violence.

The delegation inspected the hostels for returnees, training halls, office buildings, the Sexual Assault Referral Centre temporal structure and its permanent building whose foundation stone was laid just May 3rd this year.
