Officers of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested 3 suspects over the abduction and murder of the owner of Rolak hotel in Ijebu Ode, Otunba ABAYOMI AJAYI SMITH.

The suspects are LARRY ADEBAYO ADEWUMI and his wife, OKEREKE OLUFUNMILAYO who is an employee of the late Otunba SMITH alongside one ADEBOWALE SANNI.

The Ogun Police Public Relations Officer, ABIMBOLA OYEYEMI in a statement said the victim was kidnapped on September 28 2020, with the kidnappers going ahead to kill him despite collecting a ransom of 15 million naira.

The Police statement said its men who were investigating the case then discovered a plan by the criminals to kidnap the wife and son of Otunba AJAYI SMITH, of which one of the suspect, ADEBOWALE SANNI was traced to Ikeji Arakeji in Osun State, where he was arrested.

The suspect confessed that that the 3-man gang had plans to kidnap and kill the woman and her son, just as they did to her husband two years ago. The confession then led to the arrest of the 2 other suspects.

The Police also disclosed that one of the suspects, LARRY ADEBAYO ADEWUMI, has two bank accounts where he used to keep money realized from his criminal activities. One of the accounts had the sum of 34.9 million naira, while the other account had 4.5million naira.

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, LANRE BANKOLE, directed that other members of the gang should be hunted for and brought to book. LANRE BANKOLE also directed that the arrested suspects be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.
