Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has described as a milestone the signing of the Edo Justice Sector Reform Law and the new criminal law.

He noted that lack of adequate coordination among the judicial institutions in Edo and across the country has created a major problem in administration of justice.

According to him, the reforms will help deal with issues in these sectors including prison congestion, lack of cohesive actions and the likes.

Obaseki said the new criminal code law, the offence of rape has been strengthened while other offences have been added to close some gaps in the legal framework.
