Edo State Deputy Governor Tackles Federal Ministry Of Works Over Benin-Auchi Highway

Edo state deputy governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu has described the sorry state of the Benin-Auchi Highway as an attempt by the Federal Government to continually drain Edo State tax payers’ money.

The deputy governor said the road has become a conduit pipe for the Ministry of Works and Housing, with the state government annually expending huge funds on palliative to make the road motorable.

Comrade Shaibu noted that in spite of the annual monies budgeted on the Benin-Auchi road, nothing tangible has been done to add value to the communities leaving along the corridor.

The deputy governor said that economic activities have been further impeded because of the pathetic state of the road with corporate organizations suffering the spiraling effect of the deplorable road.

Recall that the Federal Controller of Works and Housing, Edo State, Dr. Razaq Aransiola, had said unending litigations and citizens’ encroachment into the government’s right of way had contributed to the delay in the completion of the dualization of the Highway.
