Edo State Deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu says the people of the Niger Delta and Nigerians at large will only get respite from flooding when the federal government dredges the River Niger.
In an exclusive interview with Super FM, Comrade Shaibu decried the failure of the federal government to take drastic actions to stem what has become a reoccurring challenge for Nigerians.
The deputy governor noted that the temporary measures being undertaken by state governments and concern individuals would not provide long term solutions and bring about desired succor for displaced communities.
He assured that the Edo State Government through relevant agencies will sustain its assistance to those displaced in Etsako Central Local Government Area.
Recall that no fewer than 13 communities in Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State have been submerged by flood following torrential rain fall.
