The Police in Lagos State says that participants of the EndSARS memorial arrested on Thursday at Lekki tollgate have been released.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin said the police only arrested a few troublemakers who were kept in their custody on the spot but were later released when normalcy returned.
He said that police were there to provide security and ensure that the procession went fine, and only reacted when some people tried to cause obstruction to the free flow of traffic.
Asked why the police decided to fire teargas on the EndSARS memorial participants, the Lagos police spokesperson said that they had to use teargas when a few of the participants decided to stay back at the tollgate.
