The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) says 63 inmates in Plateau State have been granted amnesty by the federal and state governments.
The NCS Public Relations Officer in Plateau, MARTHA BANDA, made this known in a statement in Jos.
BANDA says the amnesty was in line with the decision of the Federal Government to decongest the correctional centres in the country, as a measure to contain the spread of the corona virus in the country.
Banda explained that 57 of the inmates were granted amnesty by the state, while six others were pardoned by the federal government.
