Relief has come the way of many Nigerians, with the restoration of electricity following the suspension of the strike embarked upon by the National Union of Electricity Employees.
The union suspended their strike after a meeting with the Minister of Labour and Employment, DR CHRIS NGIGE.
The Minister of Labour during the meeting constituted a tripartite committee to look into the grievances of the electricity workers towards addressing them.
The union’s secretary general, JOE AJAERO, assured the minister that necessary steps will be taken to restore the supply of electricity to the country immediately.
In many parts of the country, electricity was restored this morning, after the electricity workers re-opened many power stations that were shut down due to the strike.
Yesterday, virtually all parts of the country were in total blackout as electricity workers kept shutting down different power stations, with the national grid falling to zero megawatts as at 4pm.
