An Associate Professor of Urban and Regional Planning at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Dr. BASHIR ODUFUWA, say the trend of building collapses in the country is due to the deliberate avoidance of quality control in the construction industry.
Dr. ODUFUWA, in an interview with Super FM News, added that in some cases government officials in charge of regulating building construction have been found complicit, leading to substandard building structures.
He noted that government should go ahead to demolish buildings if they are found to be defective, rather than wait for them to collapse.
