The Inspector-General of Police, USMAN ALKALI BABA, has directed that security be strengthened in and around schools, colleges, and student-based communities across the country.
The Police Public Relations Officer MUYIWA ADEJOBI in a statement; said the IGP gave the directive at a meeting of the Force Management Team at a Conference Hall within the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
IGP USMAN BABA said that it was important to ensure the protection of schools and colleges, particularly boarding schools, tertiary institutions and their campuses in areas prone to security breaches.
The IGP further asked state Commissioners of Police, tactical commanders, as well as their supervising Assistant Inspectors-General of Police to explore all available options and think outside the box to secure the schools.
The Inspector-General also ordered the review of personnel and operational assets deployments to schools around the country.
