The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has declared a lecture-free day today across universities in the country to enable its members hold meetings and sensitization over the failure of government to meet their demands.
ASUU National President, Prof. EMMANUEL OSEDEKE confirmed the development over the weekend, saying that another strike might happen if the Federal Government fails to do the needful.
Prof. OSEDEKE stated that after the meeting, members of the union would embark on sensitizing the general public and students on the issues and its consequences if the government fails to act quickly.
Recall that ASUU had in December 2020 called off its 9-month strike that began embarked in March 2020, after the Federal Government agreed to some of its demands in a memorandum of action.
However, as it stands more than one year after, the government is yet to fulfill their part of the agreement.
