The remaining 68 kidnapped students of Government Day Secondary School, Kaya in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State have regained their freedom. 

The students, who were abducted on September 1, were received by Governor BELLO MATAWALLE upon their release, after spending 13 days in abduction.

73 students were initially kidnapped from the school, with 5 of them released 1 day after the incident.

The incident is one of the several school abductions that have been reported in the North-Western state and other northern states battling attacks from bandits.

Other states in the region who have had attacks in their schools include Katsina and Kaduna.
