Nigeria generated a total of 1 trillion naira from Value Added Tax VAT in the first half of the year.
The figures were contained in a report released by the National Bureau of Statistics.
The VAT figures consist of 512.25 billion naira in the second quarter and 495.39 billion naira generated in the first quarter.
The manufacturing sector generated the highest VAT with 44.89 billion naira, followed by professional services with 29.3 billion naira.
Meanwhile, the Federal Inland Revenue Service said that it will appeal the ruling by the Federal High Court in Port-Harcourt that only states should collect VAT and personal income tax.
